Simon “Swampy” Marsh.
As council candidate for the Wellington Eastern ward, Simon “Swampy” Marsh has a clear message to deliver to his constituents. “It’s time for a new voice in council, a councillor who will listen to your ideas and be the voice. I want to be the voice because you deserve to be heard!”. To spread his message, “Swampy” moved into the online realm, through a website that incorporats a range of Social media tools. Expert’s brief was to provide a two way communication tool, between “Swampy” and his constituents. We recommend an online blog. This has given the general public a way to post comments on issues raised by Swampy.
The site also integrates with social media communities such as twitter, facebook, and linkedin to widen Swampy’s communication with the public. The Swampy Marsh site’s ”look and feel” has also been incorporated into The Swampy Marsh twitter page. This helps followers to be brought closer to Swampy’s message and voice.
To develop this site for Swampy, Expert designed and built it in MoST. By using MoST as his Content Management System (CMS), Swampy is able to post blogs and videos, run surveys of local constituents, and truly interact with the Eastern ward, and greater Wellington community.
The integration of social media into his site and campaign has helped Swampy bring his voice closer to the community. It has ensured that his representation of the Eastern Ward is in line with the thoughts and feelings of the community.
